Brief Description

As a Maintenance Engineer apprentice for W. H. Tildesley, your role will be to help reduce the amount of production downtime due to maintenance issues and to ensure the overall reduction of outstanding compliance issues.

Qualifications Required

A minimum of 3 GCSEs, or equivalent, including English and maths at grades A* - C (9 - 4).

?Able to cope with responsibilities & associated production pressure
?Flexible approach to working hours, prepared to work overtime at short notice when required
?Able to use hand and power tools along with flame cutting and welding equipment

Skills Required

?Educated in a suitable engineering discipline
?Able to demonstrate problem-solving abilities
?Able to use Microsoft office applications when required
?A tidy and organised approach to work

Training to be Provided

? Engineering Basic Skills training ? off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
? NVQ Level 3
? A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3)
? In house training in line with your requirements.

Vacancy Detail

We are seeking to employ and train 2 apprentices.

You will be highly trained to work in the world of manufacturing. The initial training will be broad based and could lead to a first appointment as a Maintenance Engineer.

By the end of your apprenticeship, your regular tasks are likely to include:
?Carrying out emergency maintenance & preventative maintenance on forge hammers, power presses, production machinery & all other plant and equipment when required
?General building and infrastructure maintenance and repairs
?Updating maintenance records and documentation, plant operating manuals
?Assisting with the day-to-day maintenance and repair of plant and equipment to ensure the smooth running of production
?Carrying out inspection of plant and equipment as required to meet internal safety, environmental and legislative standards
?Helping to identify preventative maintenance requirements and develop the maintenance schedule to include improvements & modifications
?Adhering to and champion Business Operating System Work Instructions (incl. Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality)
?Working alongside sub-contractors where appropriate to ensure compliance with agreed standards and specifications
?Ensuring that the premises are fully secured and the mains power isolated before leaving of an evening
?Dealing with potentially environmental hazardous spillages (member of enviro team)
?Assisting with any 5C activities as deemed appropriate
?Conducting Health & Safety and Environmental inventories as required
?Maintaining stock of spare parts

Secondary/backup responsibilities:
? General fork lift truck driving as required
? Assistance with production processes as required (incl. welding)

Other Information

Future Prospects: Long term career plan into Senior Maintenance Engineering or Process Engineering roles. Roles will be part of the long term succession planning of the business to meet growth potential of the business and matching of skills requirements to meet this growth plan.
