Brief Description

Metal Assemblies is seeking an apprentice with the passion to program and set up two Hurco Machining Centers and two EDM Machines and assist the toolmakers when required. To carry out offline programming on the VERO software system

Qualifications Required

Essential ? 3 or 5 GCSEs at 9 ? 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

? Engineering Basic Skills training ? off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham

Vacancy Detail

The jobholder must be reliable and be a good timekeeper, as the role is fundamental to the efficient operation of the department.
Responsible for the day to day running of the CNC machines and producing items to the cad drawings provided and making relevant changes to the cad drawings were needed and updating the files.
To make sure that the best utilization of machines times are achieved and that instructions are left for the next shift if applicable.
To liaise with the Toolmakers with in the toolroom and support were needed.
To undertake any manual machining that is required.
To support the Toolroom Manger in any spares or breakdown requirements that are detrimental in keeping the production in the factory going. This may mean working past your shift.
To report any faults with the CNC machines or mistakes made to jobs that are being machined to the relevant members of staff or the Engineering Director.
You may be asked to work extra hours to cover illness and holidays in your area if required.
To provide support on the production CNC machining centers if required.
To ensure the area is kept clean and tidy and all scrap is placed in the correct bins.
To ensure that any Health and Safety hazards are identified and reported and that you adhere to the company?s Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Policies and procedures and that all the staff in your area also do so.
Communicating with persons inside and outside of the organization in the most efficient manor to ensure accurate provision of information. This can be in person, by telephone or via email.
To help program and support the production CNC cells within the factory.
To carry out offline programming using the VERO software.
To carry out any tasks within the scope and abilities of the function other than those listed above. The Engineering Director / Tool Room Manager and CNC Supervisor may provide these verbally or in writing, such as expectation or improvement requests.
