Brief Description

We are seeking to employ and train 2 apprentice(s).
You will be highly trained to work in the world of manufacturing. The initial training will be broad based and could lead to a first appointment Apprentice Mechanical Fitter

Qualifications Required

Essential 5 GCSEs at 9 ? 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

? Engineering Basic Skills training ? off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham

Vacancy Detail

You will be highly trained to work in the world of manufacturing. The initial training will be broad based and could lead to a first appointment Apprentice Mechanical Fitter

Ensure workflow procedures are followed
Ensure plant maintenance is carried out and recorded
Carry out workplace risk assessments and method statements where necessary
Provide guidance and technical support to personnel
Participation in Lean initiatives and implement where relevant

Refurbishment of pumps and rotating equipment
Workshop presentation standards are maintained
Health and Safety standards are adhered to
Delivery of expected work quality
Delivery of expected time schedules
Self inspection
Strip and inspection procedures and reports
Problem solving & decision making
Customer site work when required
Operate various machine tools to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies.
Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results, including sizings and illustrations
Use measuring devices and techniques correctly to assure proper sizings. Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment
Perform various metalizing (metal spraying) techniques as needed.
Understand materials and applications as required.
Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch and stick welders.
Set up and perform tool-post grinding operations (e.g., precision surface facing), broaching procedures, and Babbitt bearing work.
Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and/or to observe safety precautions.
Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to: band saw, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc.
Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and ear protection).
Keep work are neat and clean as directed by supervisor.
Assist other machinists in department with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor or service centre manager.
Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor
Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling and lathe work, using various engine lathes (e.g., horizontal and vertical mills and horizontal boring lathes)
Illustrate and/or document all relevant date specific to units electromagnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage, or intended serviceability.
Dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electromechanical equipment.
Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions.
Operate specialised repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems, and various handheld power and non-power tools.

This apprenticeship has expired
