Brief Description

Engineering Technicians ensure that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate production targets in a variety of environments. Work includes installation, testing, fault finding and planned maintenance of automated equipment.

Qualifications Required

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (Grade 4-9) which must include Maths and English Language.

Training to be Provided

This 4 year programme will include:
? Engineering Basic Skills training ? off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
? NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
? A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
? In house training in line with your requirements.

Upon successful completion of the scheme, you will be eligible to apply for a permanent role with us, and to extend your technical knowledge / managerial capability through an Engineering Degree and / or the Wienerberger Leadership Development Programme.

Our Multi-Skilled Engineering Apprentices will undertake the L3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, with a focus on Mechatronics. Wienerberger has a wide range of mechanical, electrical and robotic equipment that we will develop you to install and maintain to the highest standard.

Structure of your Apprenticeship

Year 1: You will be based at Make UK, Birmingham on a full-time basis, where you will get to know the basics of engineering and safety.

Years 2 ? 4: These years will involve a mixture of residential learning at our national training centres, training placements with some of our key equipment and robotics suppliers, and practical learning across all our sites. Primarily you will be based at your home location of Ewhurst. There will also be opportunities for you to spend time across our UK network of Wienerberger manufacturing plants. This will support you in understanding the equipment you will be responsible for, as well as building relationships and learning from your colleagues. Please note - You should be prepared to spend up to 50% of years 2-4 based away from home at a different location, Monday to Friday. All accommodation and travel will be arranged and funded by Wienerberger.
