5 GCSEs at grade C (4) or above or equivalent qualifications, including maths, English language and science

Training to be Provided

This 4 year programme will include:
? Engineering Basic Skills training ? off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
? NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
? A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
? In house training in line with your requirements.

Main Job Purpose:
Create, manage and sustain a best in class spare parts management system.
To ensure operational readiness and reliability of all production and mixing equipment ensuring the expected efficiency, quality and cost is always achieved.

Key Tasks you will be trained to do will be to:
Identify via the planned preventative management system required parts and ensure appropriate stock is in place including appropriate spare parts for repairs/failure.
Track parts usage so that we maintain a lean spare part inventory.
Identify critical spare parts and ensure we have in place.
Manage all parts in line with budget or escalate conflict between requirements and budget.
Transition parts stock from spreadsheet/excel to scanned/web browser system using current site systems or licenses.
Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance of production and mixing equipment to ensure they are running to the expected production rates, quality and cost.
Ensuring that equipment is well maintained and available for production activities in line with set objectives and operational safety.
Fault finding equipment operational problems affecting production, finding appropriate solutions.
Escalating any risks and issues in a timely manner.
Ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment. For example, ensuring the working areas are kept to the expected cleanliness standards during and after work, storing tools and equipment in a safe manner and the correct place, ensuring correct Personal Protective Equipment is always used.
Proposing continuous improvement initiatives in order to optimise safety conditions, quality and production costs.
Ensuring relevant records of the maintenance activities carried out and planned are appropriately and accurately maintained.
Any other tasks as maybe required from time to time in line with competency levels.


In exchange for your hard work you will earn:

Year 1 - ?180 per week (?9,360 per annum)
Year 2 - ?220 per week (?11,440 per annum)
Year 3 - ?280 per week (?14,560 per annum)
Year 4 - ?360 per week (?18,720 per annum)

You will spend year 1 at Make UK's training facility, completing all of your hands on skills before returning to the DCS group factory in Redditch to begin your journey as a maintenance technician

Other Information

The working hours from year 2 will be Monday to Friday - 8am to 4pm with a half hour lunch break.
You will be working with some of the best known retail brands' products
