Vacancy Detail

In our 21st year VAS has a young engineering workforce all having completed apprenticeships, some starting here from school. Staff turnover is low. We are growing every year into exciting new business projects which see us not only working in the UK but across Europe and around the world. We have two engineers in Thailand at the moment so foreign travel is a potential opportunity.

Founded in 2000, VAS offer a complete package to our customers from bespoke new furnaces, spare parts, servicing and calibration. As an apprentice you will learn,
How all types of furnaces operate
Safe systems of work
Vacuum systems, including pumps, valves and control
Electrical systems, including PLC
Calibrations of new and current furnaces

All training is supervised and will take place at our premises in West Bromwich and at customer sites in the UK.

Once qualified you will:

- Ensure the efficient and safe working of the VAS systems by utilising the skills taught during your training
- Carry out preventative maintenance daily and installation of new equipment as required
- Calibrate new and current furnaces
- Respond to and acting upon the fault report system
- Update reporting IT system with any actions taken

You will receive support from your mentor throughout your training and your pay will be reviewed annually.

Other Information

The candidates must consider the travelling aspect of the position. Apprentices in the first year will not be expected to travel but in their 2nd, 3rd and 4th years there will be some working with VAS engineers on customer?s sites, this is essential to learn about the different equipment they will eventually be working on when they become engineers.
