Brief Description

DPL are the largest manufacturer and distributor of hygienic tubes, valves and fittings and they are recruiting for an apprentice to accurately fabricate and weld thin wall stainless steel to specific customer drawings using both manual (TIG) and orbital welding methods.

Qualifications Required

3 GCSEs or equivalent, at Grade 3 / D or above, including Maths and English Language

Skills Required

Ability to learn:
To read manufacturing drawings

Training to be Provided

Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations
Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations

Please note that this Intermediate (Level 2) Apprenticeship will last for 12-18 months. It will involve spending one day per week at MAKE UK's state-of-the-art Training Hub in Aston, and four days per week at the employer's site for the duration of the apprenticeship.

DPL are searching for a level 2 welding apprentice to join their team to work on their tailored fabrications to the highest standards.

Welding Section
To develop the required manual (TIG) and orbital welding skills for the role
To be able to inspect manual and orbital welds and assess their suitability to meet customer requirements
To undertake coding as required to meet customer and company needs. (to include ASME BPE / ASME IX / EN standards)
To set and operate orbital welding machines accurately
To inspect own work and identify errors prior to passing to next section
To operate all equipment competently, safely and effectively within this section

General Job Accountabilities
To develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be able to complete the manufacturing requirements of the role.
To work with team members to create a smooth workflow across the shop floor
To develop an understanding and the practical application of materials handling
To undertake any new skills and training where required
To support any manufacturing projects initiated by the Manufacturing Manager
To undertake other duties as requested by the Managing Director
To understand the requirements of Health and Safety, to understand, maintain and to use, the appropriate PPE at all times
