Brief Description

CMM Apprentice - You will be responsible for effectively operating the CMM machine conducting preliminary analysis and producing statistical data in line with Stadco and customer requirements.

Qualifications Required

To have achieved grade C or above at GCSE level in English and Maths and a relevant science subject, or equivalent prior to the commencement of the apprenticeship.

Other relevant or prior experience may also be considered as an alternative.

Personal Qualities

? A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
? An interest/understanding of CMM is
? A desire to learn new skills in a fact paced environment
? CAD experience

All training will be given either at MakeUK or on the job.

Training to be Provided

? Engineering Basic Skills training ? off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
? EAL Level 3 Metrology
? In house training in line with your requirements.

Vacancy Detail

We are seeking to employ and train 1 apprentice.

You will be highly trained to work in the world of manufacturing. The initial training will be broad based and could lead to a first appointment as a CMM Programmer / Operator

Key Accountabilities:
?Operate the Coordinate Measuring Machine. 2 machines - Stiefelmayer & Trimek. Also a new Zeiss CMM to be commissioned in the summer.
?Write programmes from CAD data. Software Metrolog X4 provided by
MSL vrs 11 (CAD compatible with IGES)
?Provide layout inspection and capability studies for Stadco components for supply to the automotive industry.
?Prepare inspection reports for customer submission.
?Plan CMM workload / capacity and work to deadline.
?Inspect production parts to significant characteristics and develop ongoing specification.
?To maintain and update the master sample control process.
?Flexibility within the QA department including liaison with customer and general QA duties ? including but not limited to: line support when required, initial problems solving & investigation with production, product & process auditing.

Other Information

Exposure to various measurement tasks within the quality department (white light, hand measurement equipment etc).

A close working relationship with the Quality Engineers? and their role e.g. PPAP etc. so this would be a varied role.
