Brief Description

As a Metrology Technician Apprentice, you?ll train in the development and monitoring of measurement capability and capacity, helping towards the planning, quality, accuracy, timely delivery and evaluation of metrology tasks within the area.

Qualifications Required

3 GCSEs at 9 ? 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Personal Qualities

? Positive? Keen eye for detail and mind set to achieve success through their activities in the workplace and college commitment.
? Problem solving abilities with a ?can do? attitude.

Skills Required

Computer skills across Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Training to be Provided

This 3 year programme will include:
? Metrology Skills training ? off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham on either block or day release
? In house training in line with your requirements.
? EAL Level 3 Award in Metrology

You?ll learn to apply a measurement strategy and understand its commercial impact. You?ll analyse, interpret and evaluate information and will be able to use this information to inform future measurement developments. You?ll also participate in gauging and measurement activities such as MSA studies, capability studies and ISIR activities.
You will be able to build effective communication channels and relationships with colleagues, customers and stakeholders. Your academic and practical knowledge of metrology will enable you to assist in strategic solutions to measurement problems and identifying areas for improvement for WHS Plastics Ltd.

This role will require individuals to learn and apply metrology techniques to the products we manufacture. As a Metrology Apprentice, you will learn how to understand and implement various measurement activities using Co-ordinate Measuring Machines, Portable Measuring Arms and manual measurement checks to both gauges and our products. You will learn a variety of skills to support these practices including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis and practical skills such as measurement programming and operation of our equipment. This will be a varied and challenging position to help drive improvement and quality gates across many business units.
