Brief Description

Manufacturing Engineering have highly skilled individuals with the engineering expertise and foresight to put the facilities and processes in place to keep our programmes on track.

Qualifications Required

To be eligible for our Higher Apprenticeship programme you will need to demonstrate a passion for Manufacturing and strong motivation for the role. You will also need to meet our academic entry criteria:

Maths and English Language GCSE level 4 (C) or above. In addition you will need three additional GCSE?s including a STEM subject at level 4 (C) or above, or as an alternative to the additional three GCSEs an Engineering Vocational qualification level 3 of 90 credit value (540 GLH).

You?ll also need A Level Maths at C Grade or above.

To be eligible you will need to demonstrate a passion for Manufacturing and strong motivation for the role and a good understanding of a level 3 'hands on' apprenticeship and the learning and training that is involved.

Regularly working several years ahead of production, they help plan, implement and translate Product Development outputs into vehicle manufacture, transforming our ambitious plans into tangible and exhilarating realities.

Manufacturing Engineering provides equipment, facilities and processes for the production of the next generation of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles and, as such, the very future of our organisation.

Manufacturing Engineering have highly skilled individuals with the engineering expertise and foresight to put the facilities and processes in place to keep our programmes on track.

The Manufacturing Engineering Higher (Technician) Apprenticeship has three pathways:
1. Robot Programmer
2. Controls Engineer
3. Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician

These three pathways will see you become a world class Technician providing both technical and analytical skills.


Pathways available
If you are successful at being invited to an assessment centre, we will ask you to indicate your preference for which pathway you would prefer to pursue:
- The Robot Programmer Pathway
The Robot Programmer is responsible for programming and commissioning industrial robots for all types of the manufacturing facility that are involved in producing all aspects of the Vehicle.

- The Control Engineer Pathway
The Control engineer is responsible for creating and writing software programs for all types of manufacturing equipment that are involved in producing all aspects of the Vehicle.

- The CAD Technician Pathway
The CAD Technician is responsible for the creating the parametrised geometric designs at whole systems level to enable the drive of standardisation, efficiency and robustness within Manufacturing Engineering.


The Apprenticeship

This is a Higher Apprenticeship Level 4 approved by the Government. This exciting 4-year programme will develop your practical skills and cultivate the knowledge required for your particular role. This is all achieved whilst developing your behaviours such as team working and problem solving, as we are not just interested in what you accomplish, but the manner in which you do it.

As well as gaining a broad range of technical and professional experience, you?ll also gain academic and vocational qualifications. You will attend Make UK, one of our lead Training Providers. This will consist of block training in your first year followed by day release.

At Make UK you will study for a Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering and a separate practical foundation skills programme, utilising their industry led workshop training facilities, using tools and equipment used in Jaguar Land Rover. In plant, you will follow a specialist training development programme relevant to your job role. This programme will also be supported by Make UK and will help you to prepare for your apprenticeship End Point Assessment.
