Brief Description

Swisslog, UK is looking to introduce its fourth Engineering Apprenticeship program based at Asda, IDC. Qualifications Required

Qualifications GCSE, or equivalent, A-C or level 5 and above (Maths, English and a Science Subject (Physics Preferred)

Formal training/qualification in electrical and mechanical engineering e.g.: NVQ, formal apprenticeship would be advantageous

Personal Qualities

Willingness to learn non Swisslog equipment and take on additional support duties when required which may be outside of your normal working day.
Adapt to the customers company culture and working environment as well as adhering to Swisslog standards.
Forward thinking and Innovative
Excellent communication skills
Passionate and dedicated.
Ensure that the company?s and customers safety regulations are followed at all times as well as report any anomalies immediately.

Training to be Provided

This 4 year programme will include:
? Engineering Basic Skills training ? off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
? NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
? A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
? In house training in line with your requirements.

Swisslog, UK is looking to introduce its fourth Engineering Apprenticeship program based at Asda, IDC. The apprenticeship will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to gain a Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 NVQ in year 1 alongside your BTEC level 3, before completing an NVQ level 3 in Engineering.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone you may know and means that they can earn while they learn, gain relevant employment experience to ensure a successful career long term in Automation engineering.
There will be requirement to attend college alongside ?on the job training? based on site. This pathway can lead the apprentice through to Degree Level in Engineering with the opportunity to secure a permanent job at the end. Swisslog can assist the candidate to secure the job and career that is right for them.

The role will involve:
- Completing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on plant machinery
- Responding to machine breakdowns in a timely fashion
- Completing relevant reports and paperwork


Technical/Commercial Knowledge

To learn how to keep the customer?s automated warehouse running efficiently and provide an efficient and cost-effective service within Swisslog contractual obligations.
To develop the knowledge and skills required to take preventative and corrective action for the maintenance of the automation.
To learn how to monitor and correct the systems performance daily.
To know and understand the company?s product range both past and present.
To know and practice the company?s procedures related to the role through the ISO handbook.
Coordinate and collaborate with other Swisslog departments both in the UK and abroad if problems arise.

Flexibility

Willingness to learn non Swisslog equipment and take on additional support duties when required which may be outside of your normal working day.

Results orientation
Complete and submit work sheets, bi-weekly report sheets and all other relevant returns on time and in a correct form.
Learn how to maintain site stocks, company tools, manuals and all other company property in good and clean order.

Be confident towards the customer when representing Swisslog
Deal promptly with customers? enquiries, complaints or problems and refer immediately to higher authority if problems arise that cannot be dealt with
Promote and sell Swisslog customer support services and escalate enquiries to the appropriate Manager.
Act as the interface between end customer and various Swisslog departments.

To learn how to evaluate and resolve electrical and mechanical issues using the skills and knowledge that you have learned during your training, to understand the skills that you have and be able to use them with confidence and self-belief in order to be able to resolve complex and challenging issues in a pressurised situation.
