Brief Description

To train as an Engineering Apprentice Technician at Level 4 (HNC), to undertake a structured training program of workshop work and academic study to gain the required skills and knowledge to support the requirements of a leading well-established press tool manufacturer.

Qualifications Required

3 GCSEs, or equivalent, at grade 5 or above in Maths, English language and science, further GCSEs at grade 4 or above will be regarded favourably.

BTEC Level 3 / A Level in Engineering, or equivalent, required to be considered for this role.

Skills Required

A previous Level 3 Engineering qualification. Grades 5 or higher in GCSE Maths. Basic
Engineering knowledge, the ability to read engineering drawings, an understanding of
health and safety in the workplace, able to use measuring equipment, some experience of
CNC programming and CAD/CAM design would also be beneficial. A good level of
practical ability is also essential.

The company likes all Engineering Apprentices to fulfil a period of learning alternating
between two production departments CAD and CNC, spending alternating 6 months in
each learning a variety of different techniques and skills, before settling on a more specific
role of interest and in line with the individuals skill set.

Job Description: Apprentice Engineering Technician (Level 4)
To train as an Engineering Apprentice Technician at Level 4 (HNC), to undertake a structured training program of workshop work and academic study to gain the required skills and knowledge to support the requirements of a leading well-established press tool manufacturer.
The successful individual will gain first-hand experience of 2D & 3D CAD Tool design, developing 3 and 5 axis programmes, CNC machining and tooling inspection. Once trained to the required level, you will also be responsible for managing your own projects.

College study will enhance on this, enabling you to gain a HNC qualification. Prospects for successful individuals include progression within the CNC team or within the CAD/CAM department.

Duties throughout your apprenticeship and beyond will include but are not limited to:
? 2D & 3D CAD Tool design
? Developing 3 and 5 axis programmes
? Basic fitting techniques
? The setting and programming of work on CNC machines
? Checking and inspection of Tooling
? Understanding both in house and customer supplied engineering drawings.
? Use of the crane?s to safely manoeuvre work.

You will have the opportunity to earn whilst you learn, attending Make UK's state of the art training facility one day per week to complete your HNC as well as working towards your NVQ level 4.

Other Information

As a level 4 apprenticeship, please note that you must have previous level 3 engineering qualifications. Physics and Maths A Levels may be considered.
