Brief Description

Epson require a toolmaker apprentice to work in busy tool room manufacturing and maintaining tools and equipment used in our manufacturing departments. You will work in an engineering environment learning the skills required to become a qualified Toolmaker

Qualifications Required

3 GCSEs at 9 ? 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Personal Qualities

- Confident and enthusiastic with a positive attitude to team work and eager to learn.
- Ability to use your initiative and driven to provide excellent customer service.

Skills Required

- Excellent communication skills
- Able to demonstrate a clear interest to work in the manufacturing sector.

Training to be Provided

This 4 year programme will include:
? Engineering Basic Skills training ? off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
? NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
? A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
? In house training in line with your requirements.

Vacancy Detail

At Epson Telford Ltd, Quality is the driving force behind everything we do, from our clean room manufacturing environment to the way we support and develop our people.
Our core business at Hortonwood is the manufacture and distribution of printing cartridges.

The role with involve training in the following areas:
1. Planned Maintenance

a. To conduct maintenance tasks in accordance with detailed work sheets, schedules and department procedures.
b. To ensure all tools, equipment, spares and consumables required to complete the planned maintenance activities are stored well and maintained in an appropriate manner.(5S).


2. Tools and Equipment

a. To ensure all the necessary tools and equipment are available to meet the manufacturing requirements.
b. To ensure all tools and equipment are controlled with respect to location and serviceability.
c. To ensure repair / replacement items are processed as efficiently and effectively as possible to eliminate production line down time.
d. To ensure all drawings are generated and controlled in accordance with the department procedure.
e. To ensure all details of equipment requiring calibrations are logged in accordance with the company procedure.
f. To ensure all equipment is calibrated to the manufacturer?s specification.


3. Health & Safety

a. To ensure all activities are conducted with the utmost respect for the Health and Safety of oneself and other employees.
b. To ensure all aspects of Health and Safety are continually reviewed and countermeasures implemented to improve the working conditions.
c. To ensure all data sheets are in place and logged with H.R. department for all hazardous chemicals / substances used in manufacturing process.

4. T.Q.C.

a. To support and participate in all Company T.Q.C. activities.
b. To ensure all activities comply with the Company?s 5S policy.
c. To provide support and guidance to Quality Circles/SGA?s in the selection, development and presentation of their themes.

5. Environment

a. To support all Company environmental activities.


6. General

a. To ensure all department activities conform to the requirements of BS EN ISO9001.
b. To fully support the department?s business plan activities ensuring all objectives are fully met.
c. To ensure all lines of communication are maintained at the highest possible level to guarantee a fast and effective response to unplanned changes and problems.
d. Ensure compliance with and adherence to EPSON Telford Ltd?s Quality Management, environment Management. Information Security, 5S and Health and Safety policies and procedures and all statutory legislation associated with those.
e. To undertake other duties as and when required.
