Brief Description

Do you have a fine attention to detail? Do you want to work in a safety critical industry, ensuring the products leaving the facility are up to code? AE Aerospace are looking for a quality engineering apprentice to join their team.

Qualifications Required

Education to GCSE level with Maths and English at Grades 9-4 / A*-C or equivalent with excellent numeracy and literacy skills.

Training to be Provided

This 4 year programme will include:
• Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
• A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
• In house training in line with your requirements.

AE Aerospace (Birmingham) Ltd is a AS9100, subcontract precision machining company for the Aerospace and Marine, Civil and Defence industries. We manufacture low to medium volume prototype components, through to original equipment and higher volume manufacture, plus spares & legacy parts.

We are searching for an apprentice to join our ranks to train to become a quality engineer.

Your main duties will involve the:
Improvement of quality of products and components
Reduction of scrap production through early interventions
Completion of college assignments in a timely manner

Duties shall include but not be restricted to:
Compliance with Health and Safety legislation
General inspection of components throughout the manufacturing process
Early escalation of quality issues
Record and report on all non-conformances related to the company;
Apply the necessary corrective and preventive actions to prevent non-conformances;
Liaise with company personnel on Quality issues;
Ensure measuring devices calibration records are maintained;
Maintaining customer confidentiality, as applicable;
Maintaining records, as applicable.


SC21 Manufacturing Excellence
You will ensure that you are aware of:
The workplace organisation and maintain cleanliness at all times.
Set-Up Reduction techniques and utilise them.
Standard work instructions and utilise them.
The 7 Quality Tools initiative and use them.
The Statistical Process Control techniques and use them.
Work area equipment that is supplied and that it is working correctly.

The appropriate processing and manufacturing times.

This level 3 apprenticeship will involve year 1 attending Make UK full time, whilst returning to us during the student shut down periods, Year 2, you will attend Make UK one day per week and Years 3 and 4 will be spent at AE Aerospace full time.
You will also be given the opportunity to be part of the Make UK ambassador scheme from Year 2, supporting 1st year students and representing AE Aerospace at manufacturing events.
You will also receive annual pay reviews to reflect your increase in experience and knowledge. In your first year, you salary will be determined by your age bracket.
