Brief Description
Wieland Metals Birmingham Ltd are looking to recruit an apprentice. The Production Operative will be required to shadow a current rolling mill operator, as well as learn to drive a forklift truck and operate overhead cranes.
Qualifications Required
GCSE or equivalent at grade 4/C as a minimum in maths and English.

No previous experience is necessary, but you must have a genuine interest in engineering - school studies / qualifications / hobbies would be ideal

Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations
Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations

Please note that this Intermediate (Level 2) Apprenticeship will last for 12-18 months. It will involve spending one day per week at MAKE UK's state-of-the-art Training Hub in Aston, and four days per week at the employer's site for the duration of the apprenticeship.
Future Prospects
The apprentice would be taught a variety of different skills and a number of rolling machines. The Company will coach and mentor the individual to their highest capability.

You will be highly trained to work in the world of manufacturing, the initial training will be broad based leading to a first appointment as a Production Operative.
This is a 15 month, Level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship, requiring the successful candidate to attend college one day per week for the duration of the training.
The job role will include:
Operating a rolling mill machine
Reading instructions
Operating the controls
Using measurement tools such as verniers
Visual inspections of the surface finish
Liaising with shift planner, managers and fellow colleagues
Eventually you will be trained to drive a forklift truck and to operate overhead cranes
