Brief Description

An apprenticeship with Elkington Brothers covers such a wide and varied set of skills. Working in various materials such as Metals, Woods, Tooling Boards and Resins. Learning how to use Manual machinery and developing the Hand Skills that will serve you for life. With the added incentive of excellent prospects of progression within the company.

Training to be Provided

This 4 year programme will include:
• Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
• A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
• In house training in line with your requirements.

Future Prospects

Once fully qualified from Make UK you may have the opportunity to progress to degree level if desired.
Prospects could see a progression to our CAD/CAM department.

We are seeking to employ and train 2 apprentices.

You will be highly trained to work in the world of manufacturing. The initial training will be broad based and could lead to a first appointment as a Multi-Skilled Engineering Toolmaker.
Patterns for the Foundry Industry.

The successful candidates during their apprenticeship will work in all areas of the manufacturing departments, and have a mentor to work alongside and learn valuable skills from, this mentor will change over the course of the apprenticeship to ensure the apprentices have access to the many years knowledge from all of our skilled workforce and to help gain experience and knowledge of the various tooling processes.

Training:

Off the job training at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham.
• Engineering Basic Skills training
• Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
• Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Toolmaker, Tool and Die Maintenance
• Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
On the Job training.
• NVQ Level 3
• Welding
• Hand lay-up resin work
• Wood working
Plus, much more up to degree level if applicable.

The starting salary is £5 per hour and you will get yearly pay reviews in line with your increased knowledge, experience and qualifications.

Other Information

You will be required to learn all aspects of the job even though some parts may not appeal to you as much as others.
