Brief Description

As a Maintenance apprentice at Timet you will be working in a heavy industrial environment as part of our highly skilled Maintenance team. You will work alongside and learn from skilled tradesmen gaining the skills required to become a multi skilled Maintenance technician.

Qualifications Required

A minimum of 4 GCSEs, or equivalent, at grade 4 / C or above.
This should include maths and English language and preferably a science / engineering subject.

Training to be Provided

This 4 year programme will include:
• Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
• A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
• In house training in line with your requirements.

Vacancy Detail

We are looking to recruit 2 electrical maintenance apprentices and 2 mechanical maintenance apprentices.

As a Maintenance apprentice at Timet you will be working in a heavy industrial environment as part of our highly skilled Maintenance team. You will work alongside and learn from skilled tradesmen gaining the skills required to become a multi skilled Maintenance technician.

On a daily basis you will:
- Support our production team in responding to plant and equipment breakdowns using a wide variety of either the Mechanical or electrical skills that you will gain as part of your apprenticeship.
- Working with the team, you will be actively involved in carrying out and the development of planned maintenance schedules that are designed to ensure that the plant and equipment is performing at its optimum.

The plant and equipment you will maintain is extensive, as will be the range of skills that you will learn in this challenging environment.

During your apprenticeship you will have exposure to all of the different departments and processes involved in the manufacturing Titanium, you will develop a deep understanding of the process its complexities and the strict quality requirements that are demanded from the world’s leading producer of Titanium a metal that is used extensively in the aircraft industry.

Learning the process and gaining knowledge of the product is a key requirement to becoming an effective Maintenance technician.

At Timet Witton we melt raw materials, including sponge and alloy additions, into ingot that is forged into billet for external sales and intermediate product that is further processed at our facility in South Wales for aerospace uses.

Other Information

This is a heavy engineering environment that can be noisy, dusty and hot.

You will be spending the 1st year of your apprenticeship at Make UK's training facility next door as a paid employee, before returning to Timet 4 days per week in your 2nd year and you will then be at Timet full time for your 3rd and 4th years.
