Brief Description

Your job role will be to assist in production operations in an interesting, fast-moving environment to meet required delivery dates. You will have a wide range of machines to work with and mentors available who can support you in your learning.

Qualifications Required

• Candidates must hold a minimum of Grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths GCSE

Training to be Provided

This 4 year programme will include:
• Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
• A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
• In house training in line with your requirements.

Vacancy Detail

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated apprentice to work with a leading British manufacturer of architectural ironmongery. The role will involve manufacturing a variety of items, including bespoke pieces, for projects in the UK and internationally.
Allgood Manufacturing’s team is highly skilled, with decades of experience in the sector. Within this role, you will work closely with the whole team to develop the skills needed to allow you to assist in production operations.

You will be required to complete a four-year apprentice training program, and will work towards achieving a Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. The training program will provide you with the skills and opportunities for further progression.

You will be trained on a variety of different machines from a CNC to hydraulic presses and milling machines. This will help you develop a broad understanding of all manual machining. Once you have developed in this area, you will then progress onto producing components based on an engineer’s drawings. As part of this, quality checking every operation will be required.

You will also be trained in machining special items – one off products designed for a specific project – as part of this you will learn how to create your own methods of tooling and fixtures to successfully create the product.

Additional duties:
- Set up, operate and adjust /edit equipment settings
- Measure and check components being produced and make adjustments to the equipment / programme
- Monitor and maintain machinery

Salary Progression:
£7.00 per hour for first 12 months, £8.00 per hour for 2nd year, years 3 and 4 negotiable depending on performance.
