Brief Description
Archibald Kenrick has an exciting opportunity for an inquisitive and inventive individual to join their engineering design team to design and deliver the next level of high security locking solutions for the fenestration industry.
Qualifications Required
3 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Training to be Provided
Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us, which are fully paid for, including:
● Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham in year 1
● Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
● In house training in line with your requirements.

Potential to extend qualification to level 4
Possibility of overseas travel to visit suppliers after 2nd year

Currently their main focus is a comprehensive range of door and window hardware for the PVCu, Aluminium and Timber industry selling via Distributors and Fabricators. They are one of the oldest companies in West Bromwich. Dedicated staff provide a professional and collaborative approach to product design and customer service.
The apprentice position will be placed within the design and development department to assist with the delivery of class leading solutions for domestic home locking security. The position will offer a variety of tasks including:
• 3D Product design – using Solidworks & PDM
• Product development and prototyping using the in-house 3D printer
• Product testing using a number of different processes such as cycle testing and load testing in our test facility.
• Quality control and sampling of both new and existing products
• Assisting the production departments
• Liaise with the sales department to provide solutions to customer specific problems
• Communicate with our suppliers both UK and overseas to ensure that product specifications are met and design requirements known
