Brief Description

We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in engineering, who enjoys a challenge, and are conscientious, reliable (Excellent timekeeping & attendance is essential, and is self-motivated.

This opportunity, it to gain CNC Setting/Operating & Programming experience of CNC lathes.

Qualifications Required

5 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Personal Qualities

Team player, with enthusiasm & a will to learn. But more importantly, not afraid to questions.

Hobbies would be of benefit: IE St Johns, Duke of Edinburgh, Scouts or Guides. But any hobby you’re enthusiastic with, will be of benefit.

Self-Motivation and an interest in Machine Engineering

Training to be Provided

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including: 
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
● In house training in line with your requirements.
● Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

On completion of your studies and End Point Assessment (EPA), you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Engineering Technician.

Future Prospects

Any Apprentice who completes their level 3 will be encourage to continue at college, to complete their HNC level 4.

T.D.CROSS LTD is long standing Power Transmission Business. The Company has operated on site on Shady Lane, since the 1950’s.

We manufacture all type of power transmission, including sprockets, gears, racks, pulleys, clutches & torque limiters.

The Company currently has previous Apprentices, in Key & Senior Management roles with the business.

ROLE

During your Apprenticeship you will cover all manufacturing areas of the company, which include:
• Turning (CNC, Semi-CNC & Manual, Including Programming)
• Milling (CNC & Manual, Including Programming)
• Gear Cutting (CNC & Manual, Including Programming)
• Broaching (CNC & Manual, Including Programming)

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

Once working on-site, with day, or week/block release. Apprentices will participate with the Company’s profit related pay scheme, in addition to their weekly salary.

Other Information

Shift work may be offered to completed Apprentices.
