Brief Description

Kick-start your engineering career as a Machine/CNC Section Apprentice, where you'll gain hands-on experience with both traditional machining techniques and the latest CNC technology. You'll develop practical skills in manual machining, including grinding, milling, and turning, before progressing to operating advanced CNC milling machines, wire EDM

Qualifications Required

3 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Training to be Provided

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with your employer and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including: 
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
● In house training in line with your requirements.
● Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

On completion of your studies, you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Machining Technician

Key Duties

Key areas of responsibility, duties and the deliverables expected:

- Maintain standards of Housekeeping and Health & Safety
- Manufacture of new tooling to engineering drawings in line with timing plans
- Carrying out proactive maintenance and up keep on machines
- Liaise with toolmakers, Cad/Cam programmers and Designers
- Maintain tooling to the correct standards and keep stock of all tools and holders
- Reporting of any concerns, issues and repairs
- Working in a systematic fashion following any instructions available
- All work checked before taking off
- Maintain working area to a high standard. Working to 5S's
- Good verbal communication skills
- Work to the high tolerances
- Adhere to company quality awareness
- Meeting Health and Safety standards supporting others to do the same
- Assist other areas of the business when required to carry out the same or similar
