Brief Description

A hands-on engineering apprenticeship where you'll learn to set up and operate CNC lathes and milling machines in a supportive, employee-owned company. You'll develop practical machining skills while learning to interpret technical drawings and produce precision-engineered components. This role offers a friendly workplace environment with structure

Qualifications Required

3 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Training to be Provided

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with your employer and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including: 
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
● In house training in line with your requirements.
● Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

On completion of your studies, you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Machining Technician

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic apprentice to join our engineering team as a Level 3 Setting & Machining Technician. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical engineering skills while working in a friendly, supportive, and employee-owned company. As part of your apprenticeship, you will receive on-the-job training and work towards a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification, gaining experience with CNC machining and precision manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn how to safely set up and operate CNC machines.
• Operate CNC lathes and milling machines under supervision.
• Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
• Produce high-quality machined components to specification.
• Carry out machine checks and basic maintenance.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
• Work alongside experienced engineers to develop technical knowledge and practical skills.
