Brief Description

This apprenticeship involves maintaining and repairing manufacturing machinery to keep production running efficiently. You'll carry out planned electrical and mechanical maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and help diagnose faults. The role also includes servicing equipment, recording maintenance work, and managing tools and spare parts.

Qualifications Required

5 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Training to be Provided

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with your employer and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including: 
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
● In house training in line with your requirements.
● Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

On completion of your studies, you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Engineering Technician - Toolmaker.

Role:

To support the maintenance team in ensuring manufacturing machinery and site facilities are maintained safely and efficiently. The apprentice will develop practical electrical, mechanical, and tool room skills while assisting with planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with planned preventative maintenance on manufacturing machinery and site services.
• Respond to machine breakdowns under the guidance of experienced technicians.
• Help diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out repairs.
• Record maintenance activities and breakdown information using the Piranha maintenance system.
• Service machines and ancillary equipment according to maintenance schedules.
• Support facility repairs and general maintenance tasks as required.
• Source parts and materials following company procurement procedures.
• Maintain stock levels of spare parts and consumables.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available, maintained, and stored correctly.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and follow 5S principles within the maintenance workshop.
• Learn to safely operate Tool Room equipment, including lathes and spark eroders.
• Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and company policies.
