Manufacturing Engineering (ME)
Our advanced apprentices in ME will focus on measurement and quality. You will learn to confidently measure components, assemblies and finished vehicles to provide the data required to drive quality improvements for our customers. You will get involved in activities such as using the latest measurement scanning technology to allow full surface measurement of the component, enabling reverse engineering and use of 3D printing equipment to develop prototype and final solutions for the manufacturing of jigs, fixtures and gauges using a variety of plastic / hybrid materials. In addition to these tasks our level 3 apprentices also support in the work in the elimination of quality issues with components and tools.
Stampings
Innovation and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do. Stampings Group combines both Engineering and Production Operations, responsible for the manufacture of tooling and the production of quality pressed parts to our customers? satisfaction. Our teams use the latest technology to model both the forming of flat sheet metal into a finished part and how presses, tooling and automation work in unison to produce parts at the most efficient rate possible. Apprentices will join stampings as either a Toolmaker, Maintenance Technician or Metrology Technician. Toolmakers will be responsible for maintaining, modifying and making press tooling (also known as die tooling) that support and improve quality and performance across the press shop. Maintenance apprentices will be responsible for maintaining all press facilities and involved in undertaking major strip-down, refurbishment and repair activities to improve equipment availability and performance. Metrology apprentices will be responsible for utilising the latest technology to accurately measure the dimensional accuracy of pressed parts to support the creation of premium quality panelling and bodies required for our state-of-the-art luxury vehicles.
Maintenance
Our Manufacturing Maintenance teams are responsible for ongoing monitoring, maintenance and control of all equipment used in the manufacturing process as well as driving process and facility improvements. They also work with Manufacturing Engineering to integrate new processes and facilities into current operations. Apprentices will support preventative or reactive maintenance across our technology areas; Trim and Final, Paint and Body. You will support the upkeep and performance across our facilities including robotics, mechanical pumps and motors and water test facilities.
Battery Assembley Centre (BAC) / Engine Manufacturing Centre (EMC)
Apprentices based at BAC or EMC will support activities including reading and interpreting relevant data and documentation used to maintain components, equipment and systems, monitoring and maintenance activities across the plant. They will also carry out complex fault diagnosis and repair on high technology engineered systems such as mechanical equipment, fluid and pneumatic power equipment and process control equipment and robot and laser marking devices. Apprentices will use problem-solving tools to enable effective rectification of automated performance and contribute to continuous improvement activities by identifying possible opportunities for improving working practices, processes and/or procedures.
Join us and you?ll learn from a team of experts doing exciting new work in manufacturing and production processes.
The Apprenticeship
The Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) Manufacturing is a four-year programme, delivered under standards approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IfATE). This exciting programme will develop your practical skills and cultivate the knowledge you need for your role. This is all achieved whilst developing your knowledge, skills and business behaviours such as team working and problem-solving.
The pathway on this level 3 apprenticeship that you will follow will depend upon the area of the business in which you will be based. You will be asked for your preference ahead of attending an assessment with us.
You will learn how to always work safely and make a technical contribution to either the design, development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of our products or equipment.
You can expect to spend a significant amount of your first year at the training provider: Make UK, Technology Hub, Nobel Way, Birmingham B6 7EP.
