Brief Description
Toolmakers are responsible for manufacturing and maintaining the engineering tooling used to produce components, products and assemblies. During the programme you will be supported by dedicated mentors as you undertake a variety of placements across the business.
Qualifications Required
3 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Training to be Provided
Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us, which are fully paid for, including:
● Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham in year 1
● Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
● In house training in line with your requirements.

What does a Toolmaker and Tool & Die Maintenance Apprenticeship involve?
Toolmakers and Tool & Die Maintenance Technicians are responsible for manufacturing and maintaining the engineering tooling used to produce components, products and assemblies.
Typical duties include:
• Make or improve different types of tools to enable the production process to be as efficient as possible.
• Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments to compute dimensions and determine machining and materials required
• Diagnose, dismantle and correct problems with machinery by making necessary repairs to return equipment to proper working order
Other Information
This apprenticeship role means undertaking placements across different sites.
Our recruitment process will include Group Assessment Centre, Interview and site/ location tour. There will be apprenticeship testing completed online and we want all applicants to see this as a two way process. Giving you opportunity to ask questions and really understand the role.
