Brief Description
CRE are looking for a Quality Engineering Apprentice, working a varied role, within an operational quality department in the refrigeration industry for the Birmingham warehouse. Quality engineering is an important role within a business to protect the company’s reputation and to ensure that every product leaving the factory is up to standard.
Qualifications Required
3 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Training to be Provided
Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us, which are fully paid for, including:
● Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham in year 1
● Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
● In house training in line with your requirements.

Quality engineering is an important role within a business to protect the company’s reputation and to ensure that every product leaving the factory is up to standard.
Once on site you will be assigned a buddy and a mentor who work with you to ensure you are deemed trained and competent for the following tasks:
The role will include (but isn’t restricted to):
- Inspection of products prior to them leaving the factory to ensure that the product meets the specifications that the customer requires
- Auditing and inspecting products throughout the manufacturing process and reporting any faults or anomalies (non-conformances) through the appropriate channels
- Analyse the anomalies to find the root cause of the issues
- Participate in containment, root cause and corrective action investigations on customer internal and supplier non-conformance, compile trend assessment and risk identification and take appropriate remedial action.
- Take ownership of liaising with the departments at the root of the non conformance to ensure that it stops happening.
- Produce reports to escalate any issues found that can’t be resolved in house
- Work with the relevant process owners to ensure all systems and procedures are fully aligned to the IMS (Integrated Management System).
- Provide clear instruction to the remedial team in corrective work requirements and associated timeframes.
- Conduct regular audits of processes and standards at the Birmingham warehouse, and various assembly locations to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with the design team to future-proof designs and ensure learnings are applied across the product range including engineering drawing amendments.
- Ability to challenge individuals at all levels to ensure compliance to business processes and standard.
- Carrying out dynamic risk assessments
- Take a proactive approach to customer liaison and ensure that concerns are dealt with or relayed to management as appropriate.

You should be aware that this is a Warehouse/Factory environment.
As your apprenticeship progresses, there may be opportunities to travel internationally.
