Brief Description

The opportunity to join a very successful & long-established engineering company with excellent prospects of career advancement. This role will give you the opportunity to learn how to operate a number of manual and CNC machines and join the production team in order to make pressure measuring tooling.

Qualifications Required

4 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C, must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Training to be Provided

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll work towards several academic and vocational qualification levels throughout your time with us, which are fully paid for, including: 
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Foundation Competence – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Competence  - in years 2 to 4 in company
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
● In house training in line with your requirements.
● Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

On completion of your studies, you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Engineering Technician.

Future Prospects

The prospects of career advancement through the company is a goal that the company itself requires. Previous apprentices are now either supervisors or work in R&D.

What will the role be doing?

Duties and responsibilities during training:

• Compliance with all relevant Health and Safety and Legislative requirements
• Learning all aspects of the business from production commencement to completion
• General Machine operating / CNC Machine Operating / CNC Setter Operating/ CNC Programming
• Operating and using the following equipment: measuring equipment, hand tools, grinding machines, turning machines, milling machines, CNC machines, ancillary machines, inspection requirements
• Booking stock out of stores
• Transferring stock to appropriate locations.
• Picking stock from stores and recording part numbers.
• Checking equipment looking for faults/damage and potential hazards
• Filling out job sheets recording work carried out, parts used and condition of equipment.
• General housekeeping duties
• Ad-hoc duties as requested.
• Undertake internal training as appropriate

Once trained you will be responsible for:

• Carrying out production operations
• Monitoring and inspecting product and process characteristics within the scope of their activities, carrying out production first off inspections, quantity counts, recording the details and signing and dating the Inspection Check Sheets
• Notifying Supervision following the detection of suspect or non-conforming products
• Notifying Supervision following the completion of specified production activities, as applicable
• Ensuring products are finished off safely and properly in line with good practice (e.g. removal of burrs, countersinking etc. as appropriate and transporting them to the next process Holding Area)
• Carrying out relevant safety checks and maintenance on plant and equipment used, as applicable
• The provision and maintenance of relevant Quality records
• Completing work in a timely manner to the required quality/standard
