Brief Description

We are looking for an individual for our long established Machine Shop, based in Cradley Heath on the Spunalloys site, which is part of a large engineering group. You will be trained to inspect and check a variety of components produced in our machine shop and ensure our reputation for quality parts is maintained.

Qualifications Required

5 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Personable, good work ethic, good timekeeping and attendance, keen to learn, committed, conscientious.

Training to be Provided

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including: 
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
● In house training in line with your requirements.
● Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

On completion of your studies and End Point Assessment (EPA), you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Engineering Technician.

COMPANY

Spunalloys is the UK’s leading producer of centrifugal castings. Operating at forces in excess of 60G, pouring liquid metal up to 16 tonnes, producing rings, tubes, and bushes up to 2750mm in diameter and 5000mm in length. All products are proof machined to within 3mm of finish sizes and most are finish machined by our in-house machine shops. Westley Group have 300 employees across four operating sites within the UK, with a global customer base.

ROLE
You will be trained to be responsible for:
• Inspecting Large machined components using a variety of measuring equipment and instruments, such as Zeiss CMM, Micrometres, Gauges etc.
• Ensuring that components are in-line with agreed specification, producing dimensional reports and corrective action for non-conforming parts
• Programming Zeiss CMM using Aberlink software - full training will be provided around this

Spunalloys is part of Westley Group, who have an apprenticeship programme in place, currently standing at 30 apprentices across the Group. Each apprentice is given a pastoral mentor and there are quarterly one to one meetings throughout the year, where feedback can be given by apprentices and managers. There is also an annual apprentice away day, where all Group apprentices come together for an activity, e.g. Alton Towers, Ten Pin Bowling, Escape Rooms.
